1st Lesson Learned

I wrote a test page for this post last week, and forgot to come back to it.

To recap (since it’s been about 7 days), I’m going to write about 3 things: a weekly update, some random thoughts, and lessons learned. So this is the first post about lessons learned!

Time.

I knew this in 2024, but going into 2025, I think my first priority has to be thinking ahead, and planning. I’m pretty good at this already, in some ways, but given photography’s elevated status for me next year, I’m going to have to apply my work ethic to planning shots and carving out time for this amongst my other responsibilities.

Some ways I’ve increased my capacity already:

  • I cleaned out a bookshelf and it’s dedicated to my gear, so now it’s all in one spot
  • I inventoried most of the gear that I have, and I’m in process of organizing my pdfs, files, and manuals, so that they’re also in easy reach
  • I wake up before sunrise, and that has helped me in two ways
    • I get time to work out, or do dishes, or respond to emails and frees up another part of the day
    • I get some golden hour and sun rise shots and that helps with getting the day started

So, I’m rounding into shape here, but I know that time is going to be of the essence, so I need to put my thinking cap on so I can maximize the amount of time I give myself to this.
