Part of this post is a recap or catch-up of progress I made last week, and another part of this post is the plan ahead. The last post of 2024 is going to be 53/2024, some time before 1/1/2025, and will be a recap of my 2024.
Some progress updates to note for last week.
- I took advantage of some lingering Black Friday deals, and I’m happy I was so diligent about keeping track of prices for things I’ve been interested in all year.
- That means a new square filter set and holder (polarizer, some NDs)
- I also purchased some motion control items, that will help me automate pans, panoramas, as well as stitching large landscape shots
- I purchased a Nikon Z 50mm f/1.8 for an all time low, and found some goodies and a discount code
- Some sundry other items now in my arsenal: a shutter control, and a little velcro attachment for tripod use, a free filter set, a level that I can put in my hot shoe, and some step up rings to be able to use with those new filters
- I travelled up to NH for a drone class last week, and spent an entire day studying for the 107 certification. I will post a separate series on drone work but the goal here is to earn the 107 by February.
- I updated the website posts to include a side bar so that the Lessons Learned, Thoughts, and Weekly Updates are more easily navigable
- Lastly, I got a boatload of books for cheap (like $8 or less, each), and also picked up or located a few at the library, so that’ll save me some money.
- These books center around composition, light, the digital photography workflow, as well as creative prompts and exercises
- I don’t think I took any photos, but as of today (12/23/24) I am posting a few posts, including one of photos I took today – that’ll be in my second lesson’s learned post. Because I learned some things, unfortunately …
So that wraps up last week: drone class, took advantage of some last minute and clearance deals (so I think I have all the gear I need now). Next up in this post is the week ahead.
Christmas and holiday is coming up – so that’ll mean some family and chilling. I will not be breaking out my camera for this – iPhone is plenty, and my family is pretty headstrong on who takes what photos anyhow.
So that leaves a few mornings this week to take photos, and put together a plan and post it here. I’ll plan to use hashtags and WordPress categories to help me review the plan over the year and evaluate if I need to course-correct. But as of today December 23rd, I still don’t have a formal plan or anything to evaluate off of. Coming soon, and ready before the new year.
Alright, closing this post – I still need to warm up my fingers from today’s shoot. Will post a lesson learned one the feeling returns to my digits!
